Located in the beautiful white village of Nigüelas, between the historic and millennial Nasrid Olive Grove—which boasts more than 20 varieties of olive trees—and the Almazara La Erilla, a monument built between the 12th and 15th centuries with an intact Nasrid heritage, considered one of the oldest in Spain. It is located 20 minutes from the capital of Granada and 25 minutes from the Costa Tropical, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and on the edge of the gorges of the Torrente River. Currently, it is an Interpretation Center that features one of the best examples of presses known as “beam and quintal” (viga y quintal), which modernized the lever presses used in the 7th century BC. Its structure and machinery have been preserved to this day, mainly because it was in operation until 1942 and due to the Zayas Foundation’s commitment to the conservation of its heritage. All proceeds collected go towards the foundation’s social purposes.
